Ooooh Agh, Ooogh Agh, Ooogh Agh: Its Twine Time.

And Ooogh Agh, Oooh Agh its an imported single from the USA

on the Wonderful Mar – V – Lus label number 6002. It was the Wheel DJ who had it and its number indicated that we had missed 6001 other releases on that label! Until somebody found out it started counting at 6000 !

Alvin comes along again later with The Philly Freeze (he’s back again!), Alvins Boogalo; Oooh Wee. He also had a minor hit on the Manchester Soul Scene with Oooogh Weee ‘The Ali Shuffle! Alvin’s serial soul hits are indicative of the soul music scene in the UK and Manchester in particular with many artists having numerous ‘hits’ within the original allnighter scene. Comparisons with the following Northern Soul scene shows that it is more of a one off hit, new artist discovery and rarity thing.

Alvin Cash and the Crawlers.

The Crawlers were Alvin’s backing group.
Later merged into the Registers (who were his younger brothers).
Twine Time was released in 1964 and was played incessantly by the Twisted Wheel DJ Roger Eagle.
Who had imported a copy from the States.
The song was used in the USA in the 1990’s a theme tune introducing a sports channel.
Eternally popular on the mid sixties soul scene in the UK.
It was re-released several times on the UK PRESIDENT Label.
It is included on our Top 500 Soul tracks at number 34.
